In collaboration with furniture brand Gantri, Teixeira Design Studio unveils Fold — a dual-purpose 3D-printed luminaire that integrates both task and mood lighting in one. It is marked by a minimal, curved translucent polymer form that achieves a sculptural presence by casting light downwards and upwards at the same time. Its shade’s angle of inclination facilitates and optimal balance between direct light, directed downward for task-oriented activities, and ambient mood light, gracefully cast upward. The result is a luminaire that not only illuminates but also enhances the surrounding environment.

Flexible and multifunctional, Fold redefines the conventional task light by eliminating the need for mechanical adjustments. Instead, Portuguese designer João Teixeira of Teixeira Design Studio adopts a clever and straightforward design philosophy, featuring an upward, diffused glow for creating a calming atmosphere, coupled with a downward light for fostering productive focus. Blending both lighting functions, the lamp is a harmony of comfort and productivity, founded on the principle that the right environment can allow one to recharge while they work.
Well suited for small desks and bedside tables, the Fold Wall Light is a space-saving solution that exudes focus and warmth into any space within which it sits. Mounted on the wall above a desk, it transforms the workspace into a serene yet energizing zone. In the bedroom, the Fold Wall Light provides a soft glow, serving as an ideal bedside reading companion.
