‘thankspressure’ is a colorful carpet that blends both acupressure and sports dance

studio osangmin designed this carpet with features like no other. the project is about the combination of two worlds related to how people use their feet; acupressure and sports dance. the designer searched and shared how human feet have experienced the spaces depending on the different cultures. with the eastern medical acupressure and western sports dance research, he has found a common element to fuse two pieces of knowledge.

the concept by studio osangmin has been developed and visualized with the experiments of textile materials, colors, and techniques. it was produced and collaborated with textiellab in tilburg, netherlands. the carpet comes with a book that shows how to use it technically and at the same time tells the story of how two worlds harmonize in a piece of work.

as the artist said himself ‘if you have a headache, step samba.’ with this carpet, six common conditions are treated with pressure and dancing steps. two realms of acupressure and sports dances, serious and exciting, and eastern and western are playfully joined. this new universal language is intertwined and born again by meeting textile technologies.
