to celebrate drawing, Hermès organised in 2019 an international scarf design competition, LE GRAND PRIX DU CARRÉ HERMÈS, open to all those possessing artistic talents: designers, artists, illustrators and graphic designers.
almost 5,500 candidates from 123 countries applied, showing great creativity. a jury chaired by Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistic director of Hermès, chose the following six winners:
• first prize: kohei kyomori residing in japan
• second prizes (in joint place):
— terawat teankaprasith residing in thailand
— kin fan lo residing in hong kong
• third prize: arlette ess residing in great britain
• special prize for humour: jacqueline colley residing in great britain
• special prize for innovative approach: ziwei song residing in the united states
the winning designs will be printed as part of future Hermès silk collections.
