the room comes with a plush leather chair, double bed, spacious storage (including a personal wardrobe!). oh, and a 32-inch TV. — this might sound like the standard description for an ideal place on airbnb but its not. no, its actually the new premium business class suite offered by singapore airlines, as part of a complete overhaul of cabins in its double-decker airbus a380.

singapore airlines revealed the update on thursday, offering a first look at the new ‘singapore airline suites’, the first of which will be available to passengers flying on the singapore-sydney routes later next month. luxury bedding, reclining chairs, a folding ottoman-style stool and sliding privacy doors can all be expected whilst spacious in-seat stowage promises lucky passengers there wont be any scrambling around for overhead storage.

in a bid to create new levels of privacy, the number of suites has been reduced to six from twelve, allowing space to fit an actual bed, a full-sized wardrobe and two bathrooms, one of which has a sit-down vanity counter. passengers traveling together will be able to combine two of the suites by simply lowering a divider however, it is yet to be announced if this has to be a predetermined arrangement.

singapore air says the overhaul is based on customer feedback seeking more private space and a design with convenience in mind. so the leather upholstery provided by italy’s poltrona frau and details on plush duvets embroidered by french luxury label lalique make perfect sense?

with less time to worry about the screaming child behind, passengers will have more time to relax. as well as an ‘amenity kit’ with all freebies you would expect to leave hotels with, passengers can access an in-flight entertainment system with the ability to save their preferences, for those lucky enough to be frequent flyers… (with the entire overhaul costing $850 million, it’s probably safe to assume that wont be many!)
