suspended from the ceiling, this swinging clothes rack by japanese designer shinobu koizumi for japanese retail store ‘yuragi’ features as a prominent window display. the hangers are attached by long steel rods with weights at the top, helping them to move. the device gently rocks backwards and forwards like a pendulum, inviting customers to touch the clothes, remove the items from their hangers and to make a purchase. the edge of the store is lined with park benches that aren’t intended for sitting, but instead are used as tables to hold folded clothes. the overall aesthetic creates a relaxing park-like atmosphere, helping to soften the cool white interior.
