the knot basket is the most recent work of japanese designer shigeki fujishiro, all baskets are handmade by himself with a vibrant red rope. the basket is strong enough to stand on its own but constructed seamlessly at the base and handle.

hang it on a wall, use it on the floor as a laundry basket, or even a magazine rack. made entirely with knots, this adhesive-free product is made of 100% polyester and will also make an ideal companion for outdoor adventures.

if you are around clasca store in tokyo (one of designboom’s favorite shops in town), stop by and check out the exhibit. there are a lot of great pieces in the shop like the frame mobiles by the same artist. by applying transparent strings to the frames they look as if they are floating and another nice spatial effect is made by their shadows.

shigeki fujishiro was born in 1974 in tokyo. he graduated from wako university with a BA in economics and from kuwasawa design school, tokyo. fujishiro worked for the japanese company IDEE from 1998 as a furniture designer before he opened his own studio in 2005, shigeki fujishiro design.
