industrial designer matan rechter introduces ‘shelly’, a personal outdoor workstation that allows you to enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings, disconnect from distractions and focus on being productive. the structure takes shape as a comfortable chair with a protective hood that folds in and out, whenever users need a private spot for working, reading, or relaxing.

influenced by the recent period, when more and more people are getting the opportunity to work from anywhere they want, matan rechter developed ‘shelly’ to respond to this newly emerging habit. the designer has carefully considered the amount of the user’s exposure, in order to form ‘shelly’ as a workstation that encourages concentration and productivity, but is still comfortable and allows working individuals to form a close connection to the natural surroundings.

‘shelly’ is made of aluminum profiles and synthetic cordura fabric, which is breathable and protects against UV radiation. the arches of the hood are installed in a robust arrangement, while the spaces between them ensure airflow while protecting the person and the computer screen from the sun.
