lance wyman has designed a limited-edition commemorative poster celebrating the 40th anniversary of  SEGD (Society for Environmental Graphic Design).

thirty-nine signed and numbered posters are available for purchase and the 1/40 poster will be auctioned off to the highest bidder during the 2013 SEGD conference in san francisco (june 6-8).

wyman’s design is a super-scaled, dimensional ’40’ that suggests the SEGD brand in a kinetic, sculptural form. he was inspired by the notion of SEGD’s passage into a new era, and his design embodies forward motion.

‘the idea of passing through—of being at a crossroads—made sense to me, and that’s why I combined the 4 and the 0 in this way’ notes wyman.

his design integrates the color bars from SEGD’s pentagram-designed logo and animates them, pushing the 4 through the 0 and in his words, creating a ‘full circle.’
