italian snowboard brand sandy shapes unveils a new collection of surfskates born from the designers’ mission to minimize waste. the new boards are made in italy using scraps from the company’s range of snowboards. the excess parts were always too small to be reused, but now, the team has assembled them to create something totally new.

each skate deck is made of six layers of beech wood and sheets of natural or colored ash or walnut characteristic of the sandy shapes snowboards. to ensure the best quality, every type of wood is FSC certified, which identifies products made using wood from sustainable forests, certified according to rigorous standards.

the decks are then treated to reach the necessary strength and durability and, at the same time, to maintain a look and feel that is as natural as possible. as in sandy shapes’ snowboards, the skates’ final look and feel is one of natural wood with ever-changing grains combined with laser engravings, meaning no inks need to be used. all processing steps are carried out locally and meet high-quality standards, to obtain a unique product, completely made in italy. the surfskates are availble in mediterraneo, pacifico and tropicale.
