latvia architecture and design practice sampling (manten devriendt + liene jakobsone) have developed ‘farming’, a series of handmade furniture pieces on show at biennale interieur 2012 kortrijk in belgium. craft and spatial experiences come together in these crocheted hemp twine and oak-wood details. the various furniture concepts are based on mutated volumes that evolve from a traditional object. the creations mimic forms related to nature, landscape elements and the animals. by developing these items by hand and mastering the technique allowed the team to test new dimensions in artisan capability.
