the winners of our recent designboom competition ‘RENAULT 4 ever‘ in collaboration with RENAULT were announced on august 29th, 2011. 3273 designers from 92 different countries participated and three overall winners were chosen. entrants envisioned a revolutionary concept for the renowned RENAULT 4 vehicle, producing an iconic model with a contemporary and futuristic styling. the ‘blue jeans car’ launched by the creator and former president of renault, pierre dreyfus, was once the third best selling car in the world. the ‘RENAULT 4 ever’ competition asked participants to continue the 4L’s image as a reliable means of transport with a refreshed, contemporary interpretation. designers were also asked to envision ways the vehicle construction could achieve a positive effect on the environment according to the principles of the circular economy. the jury was composed of: laurens van den acker, head of RENAULT group design department ellen macarthur, founder of the ellen macarthur foundation stephen norman, vp global marketing & communication RENAULT SAS benoit bochard – RENAULT product planning director for compact cars alice de brauer – RENAULT sustainable development director maï ikuzawa, founder of bow wow international agency birgit lohmann, editor-in-chief designboom organized by designboom, in collaboration with RENAULT ————————————————————————— … and the winners are 1st prize ‘r4volution’ design by mark cunningham from uk 2nd prize ‘r4 rally ‘ design by yann terrer + jerome garzon from france 3rd prize ‘eleve’ design by allen zadeh from usa 1st prize
