angular column motif defines Sun at Six’s Wolo Collection

The Wolo Collection, by design studio Sun at Six, revolves around the distinctive Wolo column motif, an angular column that contrasts thick and thin with rectangle geometry. Crafted from Makata Wood, a sustainable and underutilized hardwood, the collection accentuates the wood‘s luminescent sheen and unique grain patterns. The Wolo Collection comprises various pieces, including the Reka Chair, the Wolo Dining Table, the Wolo Sideboard, and the Wolo Media Cabinet, designed to showcase the spectacular heartwood grain of Makata. The collection, devoid of veneer, relies on solid hardwood panels and emphasizes simple geometry to draw attention to the natural characteristics of Makata Wood.

the collection accentuates Makata Wood’s Natural Elegance

Handcrafted using Sun at Six‘s signature wood joinery and finished with Tenna Oil, each piece, including the Wolo Dining Table and Wolo Coffee Table, is meticulously constructed. The Reka Chair, a complementary piece made from Makata Wood with an upholstered seat and back, features wide panels to highlight the wood’s unique grain. The studio’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of Makata Wood, an underused material sourced from semi-deciduous tropical forests. The family-run design studio, integrates traditional joinery techniques, eschewing nails and screws. Their approach allows the furniture to adapt to changing environmental conditions, showcasing a dedication to both craftsmanship and ecological responsibility. The Makata Wood, known for its sustainability and distinct aesthetic qualities, adds a layer of uniqueness to the Wolo Collection.
