back in march 2019, we shared the first lightweight trailer by polydrops. now, the california-based team returns with a mobile room designed for electric vehicles. the new P17A model keeps the elegant, aerodynamic shape of the original design, but adds floor integrated batteries that can store up to 12kWh of electricity.

to maxmize the battery power, the P17A is constructed with a true foam-core structure to keep thermal energy tight inside the cabin. a maximum of 8.7″ EPS insulation reduces the amount of energy required for heating and cooling, allowing the use of a 5000 BTU air conditioner or an electric heater for more than six nights without any outside power source. consumers can also add up to 520W solar panels to the roof, which can charge the batteries during sunny days.
a full-size mattress fits inside the cabin
the aero underbody helps improve aerodynamics. the team tested the trailer with a 2018 tesla model 3 long range during a 477 mile round trip from los angeles (CA) to lone pine (CA), with a speed of 55-60mph on the highway. the result was 306Wh/mi of energy consumption, meaning it can drive up to 245 miles on a single charge and that users don’t need to stop at every charging station while traveling with a P17A behind them.

a full-size mattress fits inside the cabin and the interior opens up to nature when all the doors are open. the design also features a micro closet at the rear and you can even add an optional kitchenette module, which can be accessed both from the cabin and outside.
