insecta iridesse is an intricate jewelry series made almost entirely from paper

created by plus collaboratives, a singapore-based design consultancy, insecta iridesse is a jewelry series designed to showcase the metallic printing capabilities of fuji xerox’s iridesse™ production press. made almost entirely from paper, the delicate pieces each feature a species of insect with gem-like bodies bearing striking colors including vibrant greens, radiant purples and shimmering gold and silver.

utilizing the production press’s six-colour print engine, which can produce gold and silver in a single pass, plus collaboratives’ design makes reference to gemstones. with its facets fashioned into different cuts, each jewelry piece highlights the reflective printing capabilities of the fuji xerox’s iridesse™ and the abilities of its finishers to cut, fold and form the papers into unique forms.

the series, which combines machine precision and intricate design, is a result of a 3-month process undertaken by the multidisciplinary team to understand the printing press, prototype the designs and assemble the eventual pieces. the collection has been showcased at innovation re:mix between plus collaboratives and fuji xerox, and intends to be a starting point to imagining the endless possibilities of the iridesse™ production press.
