during the 2015 milan design week, pietro travaglini design‘s ‘tubino series’ of lamps was on display at his superstudio exhibition called ‘get of the ground’. the collection which emphasizes lightness through its self-supporting structure, comprises of four lamps; the ‘cubino’, ‘lancia’, ‘piramide’ and ‘scaletta’. its seemingly unstable shape sketches a three-dimensional figure and shadow, just like a pen. its thin, cascading wire culminates with a hanging bulb that translates its efforts into light. the lamp range, alongside his other work such as the sculptured ‘metropoli’ seat and the cubist fashioned ‘onda’ magazine rack, explores the boundary line between art and design.
