philippe nigro: designer of the year – now! design a vivre 2014

at maison et objet 2014, philippe nigro  received the recognition ‘creator of the year 2014 – now! design à vivre,‘ and takes a look back at his work and shares his experiences. in an exhibition in hall 8, the french designer showcased a collection of furniture and accessories for various brands and illustrated their history. through drawings, spontaneous photographs and thirty short videos, integral parts of the design process were revealed: the birth of ideas through early drafts, models, technical drawings, 3D renderings and prototypes that lead to the finished product.

within the exhibition space, a selection of projects show the important steps in his career, which the public are invited to contemplate from beginning to end. the pieces that are presented, both products and prototypes, are materializations of the satisfaction that comes from the end results of the creative process. a process that is nourished by other important steps, key moments that show the sometimes simple, sometimes complex world of research, test trials, errors, modifications, developments, and the rich exchange between manufacturers and their teams, as well as model makers and artisans.
