PHILE Rehousing’s CD sleeves made from recycled materials

PHILE Rehousing introduces the PHILE CD, a sleeve designed to rekindle enthusiasm for compact discs and elevate their status alongside vinyl records in collections worldwide. This design fits all the elements of a traditional CD release in a more eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing package. The case encloses the rear tray artwork and cover booklet in a combination of recycled card and recycled PVC, while the disc itself is protected within a separate internal sleeve lined with Tyvek®, a high-quality archival material. Resembling the construction and feel of a gatefold vinyl record, each PHILE CD sleeve occupies only 4mm of shelf space, less than half that of a traditional jewel case.

The compact design by PHILE Rehousing significantly reduces shelf space while providing a simpler, more organic look to collections. The spine artwork is strategically placed at the rear edge of the sleeve, allowing for a uniform display of warm card spines with artist and album information easily accessible. This design enhances the appearance of the stacked discs while simplifying the organizing process of CD collections. After a limited release in 2023, the Sydney-based company’s PHILE CD becomes available to the general public on August 12, 2024
