new york-based designer chengtao yi’s ‘pencil note’ is a simple solution to a common annoyance. given the lack of clips on wooden pencils, the separation of notebook and writing tool are unavoidable. ‘pencil note’ is a plastic cover that can host a single pencil. access is provided when the notebook is open, drastically reducing the time it takes to get down an idea or quick sketch.

‘pencil note’s’ translucent construction gives a frosted look to the utensil below. compared to a video game health bar by yi, it slowly drains with each sharpen. ‘pencil note’ was designed by chengtao yi, based in new york.
