themes of wellness, comfort and sustainability define pedrali new ideas 2020. the project highlights new furniture products, family extensions and collaborations for both the contract and residential scenes as well as for the indoors and outdoors. at the same time, the pieces continue to deliver and build upon the italian brand’s renowned high quality and aesthetics. one such focus is the introduction of new versions of products made entirely from recycled materials. this includes eugeni quitllet’s remind and odo fioravanti’s babila XL ‘recycled grey’ editions.
pedrali’s new ideas 2020 places these new, highly expressive designs in dream-like surroundings awash with cleanly designed, pastel-palette surfaces. the environments enrich the beauty and vibrant soul of the products as well as helping accentuate the details and materials of their designs.

one of two new collaborations includes the blume chair, lounge armchair and accompanying coffee table sets – all designed by sebastian herkner. guided by craftsmanship, quality and functionality, the designs aim to blend traditional artisan skills with new production technologies. the results distinguish high quality furniture pieces that age with the user over time.
evoking the themes of elegance and sophistication, the designs reveal a soft, rounded and distinctive appearance. this is based upon a flower-shaped profile made from extruded aluminum. the slender frame is combined harmoniously with soft, generous polyurethane foam. all components can be disassembled and disposed of correctly at the end of their life cycle. the set of coffee tables mirror this sophisticated flower shape, and is available in various heights and sizes to make different compositions.

the second collaboration of pedrali’s new ideas 2020 is the toa table designed by robin rizzini. through detailed research into innovative materials and production processes, the designer’s collection centers on coherence and rationality, where the use of unnecessary materials has been rejected. the result defines a new functional yet expressive product that combines technical-industrial style with decorative details.
lightweight and minimalist, the toa table is characterized by a solid die-cast aluminum frame with a fluid geometric design. large size tops stand above the tapered bridge legs, which are thinner at the base and widen towards the top. its shape expresses strength despite its minimal appearance. a variety of widths, depths and finish options add to the table’s modularity.

designed by patrick jouin, the ila armchair is a refined piece of furniture that expresses high quality comfort, softness and sensuality. the smooth, taut exterior – made from rigid polyurethane – cocoons the sitter in its large volume. inside, this sense of protection is increased through the flexible polyurethane foam of the inner backrest and seat. this adapts to the human body to envelop the user like a soft embrace. the base is available as either a swivelling cone shape or a four-legged steel tube frame – all with an inclined design that evokes dynamism and lightness.

the dream-like environments of pedrali new ideas 2020 extends to the outdoors as well. embedded in inspiration from the mediterranean coastline, the panarea armchair and lounge armchair created by CMP Design reflects the colors, feelings and experience of outdoor dining on a sea-facing terrace. its wide and curved backrest is woven in polypropylene cord to create a geometrical pattern that stretches around the tubular steel frame as far as the armrests. this double curved weave delivers comfort whilst also appearing transparent, lightweight yet elegant.

characterized by soft lines and generous sizes, the reva twist continues upon the collection designed by patrick jouin. the elegant three-seater sofa and lounge armchair features four-tapered legs in die-cast aluminum placed at the extremities of the perimeter frame in extruded aluminum. steel backrest and armrests are webbed together with a flat rope weave made from weather-resistant polypropylene. this expresses a more natural appearance whilst delivering extra comfort through its soft cushioning.

for more relaxing moments outdoors, the new rail sun lounger – designed by pedrali’s in-house design team – reveals simple, modern lines. its slim, powder-coated aluiminum frame is supported by four angled, stainless steel legs that each form an oblique shape. the seat and backrest, which can be adjusted to find your most comfortable position, is upholstered in water-repellent, UV-resistant fabric. the lightweight, stackable design also includes a handy compartment space.

continuing the collection first released in 2018, eugeni quitllet’s remind chair has a sensual and romantic design that draws upon the soft, sinuous curves of the wooden chairs of the late 19th century. the new chair retains the design’s original, harmonious lines but adds a lightweight, airy yet solid appearance. the relatively small, functional and versatile element is made from a monoblock of injection-molded polyporpylene with punched holes throughout its body. this makes it suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. as another new edition for 2020, remind ‘recycled grey’ is a special version made entirely from recycled polypropylene: 50% from post-consumer waste and 50% from industrial waste.

to meet an ever growing need for sustainability, the babila XL adds an environmentally-conscious element to the family designed by odo fioravanti. the original design of the collection has always been poised between tradition and innovation. this is even more so now with a ‘recycled grey’ edition available, which is made from entirely recyclable materials. the design itself envisions an imposing armchair with a polypropylene shell. its greater dimensions deliver even better seating comfort, which is bolstered further with the removable and easy-to-clean lining.

previewed at maison et objet 2020, the soft soul by eugeni quitllet is a special version of the armchair first designed in 2018. in the same silhouette of the original, the chair’s curved solid ash wood frame and polycarbonate shell now features a padded and upholstered seat made from genuine leather or fabric. this adds an extra touch of comfort to its equally as strikingly visual appeal.
