design academy eindhoven graduate student paul heijnen has created ‘construction cabinet’ a double-door cabinet which exposes the functional components of the object. on show at milan design week 2011, the work features an industrial construction and craftsmanship which looks to expose the beauty behind the mechanics. precisely made from thin slats of plywood, the cupboard’s hangings and locks are mounted on the outside, becoming the visual focus of the piece and determining the design aesthetic.
