german art director and motion designer oskar rene fülöp is strongly familiar with the arduous process of creativity, the unending phases of trial and error where one’s mindset keeps fluctuating. with that being said, his latest work HABITAT represents a homage to all rejected and disregarded ideas that culminate in a creative person’s everyday life.

to be more specific, oskar rene fülöp’s short movie is the result of one year worth of rejected ideas, workflows and assets that never made it to fruition as a commercial project. more often than not, an art director has to go against his own tastes to opt for the best interpretation of his works. however, even though a great chunk of these graphics do not make it through the research and development phases, this does not speak one bit about their quality.

content wise, HABITAT deals with the topographic representation of various objects and motions in order to create a language of form which grows organically whilst sustaining the aspects of its technical construction. in addition, the monochromatic setting of the video emphasizes the evolution and shape of each line — from beginning to end. for a more focused understanding of the project, the following images are placed in the same order as the stills seen in the video.
