Spanish furniture brand Ondarreta debuts its collection of chairs, stools, and lounge pieces at Salone del Mobile 2022 titled ‘Hari’ (meaning ‘thread’ in Basque). As the name suggests, the collection is inspired by textile looms to create different combinations of seats and backrests, soft curves, and tubular frames, giving each piece a ‘wonderfully characterful design and timeless appeal.’ 

One featured piece is the Hari Re-wood Polypropylene Chair designed by Estudi {H}ac, depicting an industrial aesthetic paired with the delicacy of threads to create a subtle and elegant form. Available in a combination of materials, including wood, fabric, steel, polypropylene, and recycled polypropylene, the chair design is a visually expressive collection of seats ideal for any space.

reducing waste during manufacturing 

The new black, white, and caramel versions of the chair reflect the furniture brand‘s efforts to focus production on sustainable approaches. On the one hand, the Re-Wood polypropylene (in white and caramel) blends waste from the wood-production process at the company’s factory. The black recycled polypropylene, on the other hand, incorporates post-industrial polymers and recycled material from bottle caps. 

By using these new compounds, Ondarreta, with the help of estudi{H}ac (see more here), seeks to reduce the use of virgin fossil materials as well as the amount of waste generated during its manufacturing processes.
