odd matter studio’s node lamp draws upon the basic form of an electrical circuit
the ‘node’ lamp by odd matter studio which was presented at spazio rossana orlandi during milan design week, focuses on the opening and closing of the lights electrical circuit. the sculptural object consists of two points that join together to produce an on and off switch. these points are joined at the base and can only be connected by turning the handle until the circular features lock in place. the active participation involved in this process causes one to look at the objects transformation from a static object to a functional instrument. the long elegant appearance of the light draws upon electrical diagrams, which all detail a continuous unbroken loop. the lamp comes in two different versions, one which can be placed on a flat surface and the other which is used to hang on the wall. they both contain a tubular copper structure which highlights the modular elements combined within the design.
