Objects of Common Interest redefines urban remnants at alcova
VOIDS by Objects of Common Interest takes center stage at Alcova during Milan Design Week 2025, featuring everyday surfaces transforming into sculptural expressions of absence and presence. Presented by The Breeder Gallery and curated by art and design facilitator Joy Herro, the exhibition explores the interplay between material and immaterial, permanence and transience, with a collection of resin works that challenge conventional form-making. Inspired by the corrugated steel shopfront rollers of Athens, the series casts these urban remnants into static yet animated presences—objects caught between function and sculpture, memory and reinvention.

each Voids piece emerges from a sequence of gestures
Through the casting process, Objects of Common Interest captures the fleeting nature of the ubiquitous urban surfaces in Athens, rendering them unusable in their original state. The research and design studio’s approach is one of movement—bending, folding, wrapping—where each piece emerges from a choreography of gestures. In doing so, the mold acts as a conceptual force that defines the very existence of the objects.
Set within the historic Villa Borsani at Alcova, VOIDS unfolds as an immersive scenography where these sculptures inhabit the space as if they have always belonged. Joy Herro’s curatorial vision transforms the exhibition into a living landscape, where objects seem to pulse with latent energy, resisting their stillness. Lamps, fashioned from urban residues, cast an ambient glow, while the works themselves appear to exist in a state of flux—restless, evolving, self-aware.
