Adding to their extensive investigation of forms and materials, intriguing still life displays, and enigmatic furniture pieces, Objects of Common Interest introduces the Glossy Metamorphic Rock stool collection. The American and Greek design duo created the series by pouring soft gel into molds, resulting in solid rock formations that are surprisingly soft to the touch. The pieces present a semitransparent sculptural look that creates mesmerizing visual effects when a light beam falls on them, adding a fascinating touch to any interior environment they occupy.

Each Glossy Metamorphic Rock stool takes shape as a firm rock formation sitting upon a tray on casters, serving as an ideal resting element for indoor use. The piece features a stable nature because of its weight but still preserves a lightness thanks to its semi-translucent look and its unique soft feel. The glossy stools come in a number of eye-catching colors, including lime, purple, and dark blue. Each seat is 38 cm x 43 cm and stands 38 cm tall. The stools are also available in matt finishes in white, light blue, and light pink. Despite the fact that the matt renditions are more opaque, the furniture pieces still sparkle brilliantly and offer unique effects when light meets them.

The Glossy Metamorphic Stool, which was initially shown at Milan Design Week 2022, is now on exhibit at Etage Projects, a Copenhagen-based gallery specializing in limited edition contemporary design and art. The furniture piece is on display in a variety of brilliant colors as part of the DOMESTICITY-AT-LARGE exhibition. ‘DOMESTICITY-AT-LARGE presents a series of objects, sensation driven investigations comprised of elemental pieces (chair, table, stool, light, mirror) within acts-of-living, familiar set ups of domestic life within a futuristic scenography environment of textural and formal ambiguity.’ the Greece- and New York- based studio shares.
