danish designer simon legald has created a range of marble and solid oak kitchen utensils for normann copenhagen. presented during mason et objet in paris, the ‘craft’ collection includes salt and pepper grinders, a mortar with pestle and rolling pin. ‘the mills, mortar with pestle and rolling pin are all traditional kitchen utensils used for active jobs in the kitchen. therefore the utensils must naturally be durable. as the work is done by hand, it is essential that the quality can not only be seen but also felt when holding the products. the marble and oak served this purpose perfectly.’ says legald. the utensils have also been conceived with minimal flared lines and a specific weight that makes them comfortable to hold – which discretely distinguishes the craft series aesthetic.
