developed by wieden + kennedy shanhgai to promote nike’s new ‘free flyknit’, the campaign sees a real-time billboard get fully knitted by a team of four installation professionals attached to a set of safety harnesses. over the course of 10-days, the live installation re-purposes a prominent advertisement panel in china’s capital city, combining the second-skin fit of flyknit construction and ultimate flexibility of nike free onto a two-dimensional surface. thread by thread, the intervention covers the image of a bare foot in real time, mimicking the ‘flyknit’ process.
