an eight-piece collection which includes a bench, console, dining table and side table has been conceived by nendo for glas italia. in working with the transparent, high gloss characteristics that are typical of glass, the japanese designer has finished the linear, box-like forms of the furniture pieces with more contrasting organic textures. he has achieved this by first brushing a stratum of color onto the see-through surfaces, and then blowing a layer of another hue on top. thus, the mixing of the tones emphasizes the brush’s uneven application, producing a natural effect that is much like that of wood grain or stone.

the ‘brushstroke’ pieces are being exhibited at the 2014 salone del mobile in milan.
