nendo has created an aromatherapy candle holder for american company häagen-dazs as a gift item for the premium frozen treats brand. the japanese design studio has taken the ice cream maker’s iconic paper cup and transformed it into a ceramic vessel with a lid and accompanying plastic spoon with additional ‘melting’ details to imitate a pot of vanilla ice cream. the placement of a candle within the cup,  gradually releasing its essence as it liquifies, is meant to remind one of the way that a spoon of vanilla ice cream defrosts and softens within their mouth,  releasing the essential fragrant flavor. when the candle isn’t lit you can use the lid and spoon as an aromatic oil diffuser.
