say goodbye to stuck zippers

The modern zipper is an amazing invention but I think we all know how infuriating it is when one gets stuck. While online hacks suggest using a lubricant such as vaseline or olive oil to fix the jam, what if there was a device that could do the job without the mess? Well, Japanese outdoor clothing brand NANGA has teamed up with manufacturer YKK to design a small resin part weighing just 1.6 grams that can be attached to zip fasteners to prevent them from getting stuck.

Developed specially for NANGA’s sleeping bags, the special resin accessory closes the gap between the two sides that are being zipped together. It therefore reduces the chance of the zipper getting stuck and prevents the fabric from being damaged.

The designers chose resin to create the piece in order to keep it lightweight. They also made it glow-in-the-dark so NANGA’s sleeping bags are easy to open and close even after the sun goes down. The product costs just ¥550, which is about $4 USD, and it’s also compatible with other sleeping bags and clothing items with the same size YKK zip.
