presented within domaine de boisbuchet‘s chateau is ‘moving meshes’ – a series of functional flexible bamboo forms developed by dutch artist maria blaisse. the body of work lies at the intersection of design, art and movement and is composed of five delicate structures that stand as both costume and sculpture, expanding, contracting, bouncing and shifting, easily manipulated during improvisations and performances, exploring the body as a critical element in the animation of material and form.

the installation of the individual pieces was developed by fellowship students of parsons the new school for design in collaboration with exhibition designer mikaël baillairgé

in july 2012 maria blaisse also conducted a workshop at domaine de boisbuchet, an extensive, park like estate with a lake in south west france where owner alexander von vegesack, founding director of the vitra design museum, each year organizes interdisciplinary summer courses.

boisbuchet was first conceived by von vegesack twenty-two years ago, and has since developed into a site of experimentation, where for the past sixteen years, during the course of four months each summer, selected internationally established architects, designers and artists deliver workshops based on relevant themes to participants from all over the world. the minimum, week-long programs are composed of daily exploration and practical activity with tools, materials and technology which are supplemented by evening presentations by course leaders who have included tomoko azumi, jaime hayon, barber osgerby, marcel wanders, moritz waldemeyer…
