Michael young designs M2O Water Bottles

Designer Michael Young rounds the lid of his M2O – the acronym for Made 2 Origin – Water Bottles and tops them off with off-centered caps to allow easy pouring, refilling, and drinking. The shape of the Tritan-plastic-made M2O Water Bottles also takes the limelight as the neck, traditionally funneled, gets slightly more bent on one side compared to the other. The design allows the user to transfer liquid with ease and without needing to tip the whole bottle for a constant slosh and flow, all the while maintaining its visual appeal.

Michael Young carves vertical slots that run down each side of the M2O Water Bottle to support gripping from either the back or the front, refraining the user from letting their containers slip from their hands. Looking at the cap, the spherical cover is snug enough to stop the water from leaking if the bottle gets tipped. Lines also appear at the bottom of the cap so it is easier for the user to screw and unscrew it from the water bottle. Color-wise, Michael Young opts for soft, pastel-esque shades to exude a sense of cleanliness and minimalism.

Silicone and vegan leather sleeves for extra grip

In an Instagram post, Michael Young shares a piece of information with his audience about the state of recycling in Hong Kong to introduce M2O or Made 2 Origin. He says that one million cans and bottles are bought and disposed in the country, giving the implication that not all of them are and can be recycled properly. ‘This reusable drinks bottle aims to encourage users to refill the bottle by simplifying the process. M2O is a new brand, and this first product is designed to last with durable materials, and adaptable timeless styles,’ he says in the post.

The M2O Water Bottles are made from Tritan, a type of plastic that is dubbed completely free from BPA and BPS and is resistant to odor and stain. Such a feature makes the reusable water bottles often, if not always, immune to the after-scents and flavors of the liquid being filled in. Michael Young ups the fashion appeal of the M2O Water Bottles by adding pastel-colored silicone sleeves to some of the versions. He dedicates a vegan leather covering to the beige one and also adds straps to let the user take the water bottle anywhere, all while providing a slip-resistant texture and shockproof protection from accidental drops.
