THE META STORE WILL OPEN ON MAY 9TH, 2022

Meta has announced it will be opening the first Meta Store — a retail space dedicated to Portal, Ray-Ban stories, and Quest too. Located in Burlingame, California, visitors will be able to have a hands-on experience on the different technologies the company is offering. 

Meta’s first physical space is set to open on May 9. ‘At the Meta Store, we want you to interact with everything,’ said Meta’s official release. ‘We want you to pick stuff up. We want you to feel it.’

A HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE

Encompassing roughly 1,550 square feet, the retail space wants visitors to experiment with their products, while giving a glimpse into the company’s idea of the future. Through interactive demos, people will be able to make video calls to retail associates with Portal; learn about the Ray-Ban Stories glasses; and explore VR with a first-of-its-kind immersive Quest 2 demo.

‘Once people experience the technology, they can gain a better appreciation for it,’ said Martin Gilliard, Head of Meta Store. ‘If we did our job right, people should leave and tell their friends, ‘You’ve got to go check out the Meta Store.’

Meta states that building the store near their Reality Labs HQ was important for them, as this is the place where they are creating their Metaverse.

‘Having the store here in Burlingame gives us more opportunity to experiment and keep the customer experience core to our development,’ Gilliard explained. ‘What we learn here will help define our future retail strategy.’

‘The Meta Store is going to help people make that connection to how our products can be the gateway to the metaverse in the future,’ Gilliard concluded. ‘We’re not selling the metaverse in our store, but hopefully people will come in and walk out knowing a little bit more about how our products will help connect them to it.’
