masquespacio pays tribute to ceramics for roca tile interior at casa decor, madrid

the valencia-based creative studio masquespacio presents a new interior created for roca tile in madrid’s casa decor building. the project, which is titled ‘a look to the future from the past’, pays homage to ceramics with a series of decorative objects that bring together a range of rich colors, textures and finishes.

on display on the second floor of casa decor, in space 31, from march 5 to april 19 2020, the interior is part stage and part exhibition. the dreamlike atmosphere gives a nod to contemporary greco-roman architecture and surrealist fantasies, and is composed by masquespacio with the aim of provoking inspiration for the use of ceramic in design projects and interior architecture. 

the space is characterized by shades of blue, cream and gold. the opulence of the polished marble sets the tone for a dreamy composition, with luminous finishes, such as the indigo and cobalt of marble nouveau and the white with ochre criss-crossed streaks of  marble parana. 

as the name, ‘a look to the future from the past’, suggests, the space explores the new ways that, thanks to roca technology, ceramics can be adapted to any use. from the more decorative and ‘symbolic’ home furnishings to light fixtures, and even floor and wall coverings, the project by masquespacio reconsiders the material.
