louis vuitton presents SS24 hot air balloon show

During Paris Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton unveiled its Women’s Spring-Summer 2024 Show against a captivating hot air balloon-inspired backdrop. Designed to capture the essence of the French Maison’s passion for travel, the installation envisioned by James Chinlund and realized by Penique Productions enveloped the entire Champs-Élysées store in bright orange plastic sheets. This dynamic set design provided a vibrant canvas for Nicolas Ghesquière’s SS24 collection, featuring a blend of graphic stripes and elegant motifs.

louis vuitton show evokes a sense of adventure

For the third time, Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière (find more here) worked with production designer, James Chinlund (find more here) who conceptualized the show scenography in collaboration with Spanish production agency, Penique (find more here). Penique focuses on ephemeral installations, notably an inflatable balloon-like structure made from Low-Density Polyethylene which grows and expands to fill the space and transform it with a new light, a new texture, and a new monochrome color.  Chinlund has also developed globular chandelier lighting to illuminate the space. In this dreamlike installation, attendees are invited to immerse themselves in the warm glow of summer sunlight that envelops the entire set.

The latest collection of Louis Vuitton (find more here) conveys a sense of weightlessness, with garments that evoke the graceful billow of sails. The outfits on display exude a spirit of adventure, fitting into the concept of the hot air balloon. This adventurous collection by Nicolas Ghesquière plays with layered volumes to create airy silhouettes and tailored ensembles, each embracing a different facet of femininity, defying conventional eras and dress codes, and blending silhouettes and wardrobes spanning from the 1950s to the ’80s, with occasional nods to the 19th century.
