a witness of her time, milan-based designer lorenza bozzoli has joined natuzzi italia in their latest iteration of the circle of harmony — live the transition. focusing on functionality, sustainability and well-being, bozzoli has added the mediterranean’s hospitality as well as its idea of slow living — one which resonates deeply with our current times — into her new sofa dubbed timeless.

‘design should appropriate that of fashion’s attitude, placing the project side by side to the quality of its time, in which the present is expressed,’ bozzoli told designboom in puglia while producing the campaign shots with natuzzi italia. ‘every object is thought not only as a functional shape, but as an expression, as a manner. and as such, it cannot be separated from its time, where it should belong.’

TIMELESS, A SOFA THAT TACKLES THE IDEA OF WELLBEING

for this year’s the circle of harmony — live the transition, PJ natuzzi has continued to do what he does best: hand-picking creatives from around the world and inviting them to experience what puglia means so they can translate these feelings into relevant products for natuzzi. when asked how she met PJ, bozzoli dived right into it, like she probably does with her designs.

‘how did we meet? italian style of course,’ she told designboom. ‘we would see each other in different design and social events — parties are the right place to meet people, you know? and just like that we started living la dolce vita: we would meet in one place and then in another, and both sympathy and empathy started building up this wonderful relationship.’

‘timeless is a tribute to blossoming, to rebirth, to the beginning of a new positive life cycle in the name of well-being,’ bozzoli continued. ‘this is the new normal: to be reborn in a spirit of inclusion, and hospitality, just like a warm mediterranean embrace.’

bozzoli, who is known for blending fashion and product design, has also added modularity to her timeless sofa. made of organic modules that can be used to create countless configurations, the sofa is able to adapt to the most varied spaces and needs. its versatility is also expressed through different corner elements, which at the same time allow a high level of customization.

‘timeless is given to the sofa thanks to natuzzi italia’s quality together with my classic lines. to add a contemporary feeling, the proportions of the sofa have been modified, varying the depth in order to create a more comfortable seat which reflects the way people want to sit nowadays.’

when asked how the collaboration with natuzzi italia went, bozzoli said: ‘it was fantastic. this collaboration saw my empathy as a designer meet the know-how of natuzzi italia. it’s the first time that I work for natuzzi and I think they really search talents for each process and the group of people they have managed to put together is simply extraordinary and I’m happy to be part of it.’
