butlers and chamberlains epitomize the ultimate in wealth and status. the ‘james collection’ by linde hermans takes the tasks of these assistants and incorporates them into functional design objects. the four piece series is characterized by broom bases and handles modified into coat racks and side tables. they simultaneously freeze the dynamic position of a floor being swept while taking a coat, thus combining the tasks and services provided by those found in the abodes of aristocrats.
