for the seventh year in a row, designboom collaborates with LEXUS to present the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2019, an international design competition that targets up-and-coming creators from around the world. LEXUS created the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD to foster the growth of ideas that contribute to society by supporting designers and creators whose works can help to shape a better future. it provides a unique opportunity for six finalists to work with globally recognized designers as mentors to create prototypes of their designs, and then exhibit them at one of the design calendar’s most important events — milan design week.

the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2019 welcomes creatives from all fields, including architecture, product design, and fashion. participants should develop innovative designs that bring fresh imaginative solutions, and anticipate the needs of tomorrow’s society. this year — different to the previous editions — there is no theme, but the judging criteria will consider the project’s ability to:

ANTICIPATE

does the concept and design anticipate not only the needs of the user experience, but the needs of society?

INNOVATE

does the design demonstrate new thinking and originality in its proposal and execution?

CAPTIVATE

is the design intriguing and compelling when realized in concept and execution?

the award seeks submissions from around the world and opens the CALL-FOR-ENTRIES for the competition on thursday, august 9, 2018. works must be received by october 28, 2018, 23:59 (CET) — pre-registration is required.
