kouichi okamoto debuts outdoor brand 'field record' with adaptable shelter-tent

kouichi okamoto — a designer behind shizuoka-based kyouei design — has established a new outdoor brand, called ‘field record’. thematically, the brand seeks to actualize phenomena such as gravity, atmospheric pressure, and magnetic force. the designer hopes that through ‘field record’, people will recall some of the rich memories spent outdoors. one of two new products — ‘fr-shelter’ — is a tent that has been adapted to suit a range of people, installation areas, and weather conditions. 

the shelter-tent can accommodate a range of outdoor situations

‘fr-shelter’ is a tent that be connected to create infinite various shapes through the use of 10 water stop fasteners and 12 durable velcro units. ‘we repeated the commodity test many times in order to find the most suitable material to a linked extension-type shelter,’ kouichi okamoto of field record says. these carefully-selected materials consider the balance between durability and weight. 30 denier silicone coated ripstop and PU coated fabric has strength which can withstand severe outdoor elements and resistance to water. the shelter’s framework supports itself with only a few vertical poles, so anyone can easily set up.

‘fr-shelter’ is a tent that be connected to create infinite shapes

an accompanying adjustment pole, which can be finely tuned in 5 centimeter increments, and a connection pole can create a variety of lengths. furthermore, removing the tip of the adjuster pole and turning it upside down transforms it into a pin top, so you can quickly and easily open and close the unit according to weather conditions and wind direction. they can be carried compactly because the lengths of the poles are merely 40 centimeters each.
