draping like an elegant dress, the image of japanese beauty is translated into an asymmetrical chair by designer junpei tamaki. presented at salone satelite during milan design week 2013, the chromatic red seating object captures static wrinkles ever so delicately – exposing the contrast between a felt skin and the hidden structural metal framework. when paired beside the ‘dress hat’ lighting fixture, the collection seems to embody a sense of fragile beauty – typical to that in traditional japanese attire.
