‘brick’ by portuguese designer joão teixeira is a new sofa that caters specifically to the growing trend of working from home. what is the future of residential soft seating? how far are domestic and work environments from each other? brick is a furniture piece that answers those questions. staying productive at home might sound easy, but in reality, it can take a little extra effort. ‘brick’ is driven by new lifestyles of remote working and how often people use a sofa to do so. its design focuses on functionality and convenience and tries to make working from home look good and feel comfortable at the same time.

with the right amount of comfort and its subtle modern lines, ‘brick’ can be easily integrated into almost any interior. joão teixeira designed the piece in harmony with the tools we use for work in our everyday life all while acknowledging the link between individuals and technology as something evident. its linear shape allows the space it occupies to have character and charm.
the center module of the large sofa has the option to integrate a rotating side table and a power supply, making it more convenient and suitable for work from home activities. motivated by the process of working from home, ‘brick’ arises as a natural impulse to design something comfortable, enhancing productivity without disrupting the interior space.
