british designers jamesplumb (james russell and hannah plumb) have created ‘home from home’, a new collection of re-worked vintage and industrial furniture with recent pieces produced from their london atelier. the duo was invited by rossana orlandi to milan to revamp furniture from her personal archive, which is presented within the new spaces of spazio rossana orlandi. the residency and show is curated by diana marrone.
sharing a background in fine arts, the designers specialize in bringing out the hidden beauty in ordinary objects including damaged and forgotten furniture. by methodically adding functions–or by simplifying it down to one–new designs are reconfigured and assembled, giving new life to the objects. the resulting contemporary pieces often redefine the line between taste and needs.
