Invisible Collection unveils Making Memories at Paris Design Week

Inspired by Marcel Proust’s famous quote, ‘A bit of the eternal, or at least of the durable, had entered into the composition of this ephemeral,’ Invisible Collection presents a new exhibition, Making Memories, at Paris Design Week. Held in the otherworldly setting of Féau Boiseries, the show reflects Proust’s idea that even fleeting moments, emotions, and designs can leave a lasting impression. Visitors are invited to experience Invisible Collection’s contemporary designs firsthand and explore pieces that create lasting memories, ready to be passed down. The designs, showcased in the maze-like salons of Féau, are complemented by the historical atmosphere of the venue, echoing France’s rich cultural heritage.

Historic Féau Boiseries as a Canvas for Modern Elegance

The Féau salons, exuding grandeur, reflect the opulence of Versailles, the intricacy of chinoiseries, and the elegance of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann’s design style. Within this setting, Invisible Collection (find more here) presents a blend of contemporary and playful designs by Pietro Franceschini, the sleek sophistication of Charlotte Biltgen’s furniture, Leo Sentou’s homage to late 18th-century French style, and the graceful curves of Garcé & Dimofski’s seating. Vintage pieces from Crosta Smith Gallery and Norki integrate into the décor, while contemporary artworks, curated by Docent, an AI-powered art recommendation app, enhance the overall atmosphere.

The exhibition also features bespoke creations from Les Maisons d’Art pour la Mode et la Décoration, specialty artisans based at Chanel’s creative hub, le19M. Highlights include delicate embroideries by Lesage, which transform room dividers into works of art, hand-embroidered architectural elements by MTX, gilded objects by Goossens, and Lemarié’s intricate couture craftsmanship.

highlighting the timeless quality of well-designed pieces

‘The longstanding collaboration between Invisible Collection and Féau Boiseries developed naturally, as it is the go-to place for the world’s best architects and interior designers seeking a unique savoir-faire for their clients, who are avid art and design collectors,’ Isabelle Dubern-Mallevays, Co-Founder of the Invisible Collection comments. ‘It’s both a humbling and empowering experience to stage our iconic designs at Féau Boiseries. The works of Frank and Ruhlmann, alongside unique décors commissioned by France’s Kings, Chopin, or Jeanne Lanvin, become one with contemporary furniture pieces created by today’s brightest talents who are part of Invisible Collection. ‘Making Memories’ is about experiencing something beautiful and soulful that everyone can understand and appreciate, from the exquisite craftsmanship to the timeless quality and relevance of each piece.’

The exhibition highlights the dynamic blend of old and new, illustrating how well-designed pieces from the past and present can come together to create a sense of continuity and depth in contemporary interiors.
