IKEA is inviting 20 startups to attend a three-month-long IKEA bootcamp. the incubator program hopes to produce the next big breakthrough product right at its älmhult campus in sweden.

IKEA bootcamp program invites you on an idea-sharing swedish holiday

the 2019 program will be a three month semi-remote program, designed to accommodate the growth-stage startups, who are also managing their day-to-day business while co-creating with IKEA. IKEA will provide office space and living accommodations for the companies in älmhult–as well as cover a majority of travel costs to get there. the bootcamp will result in demo day as the ‘big finale’ where progress and next steps with IKEA will be presented.

IKEA announced a similar program in 2017, which saw 10 partnering companies collaborate remotely. participants included israeli startup flying spark, which makes protein from fruit fly larvae, and swedish company mimbly, which makes a water-recycling add-on for washing machines. also taking part was UK paint-on-sensor company bare conductive, which is currently negotiating a product development deal with IKEA. this year IKEA is inviting double the partner startups to be mentored in bootcamp. companies need to apply by december 31 to take part in the program, which starts in march 2019.
