With the future in mind, Diploma in Strategic Interior Design’s focus on sustainability hopes to equip its students with the skills and perspective necessary to create environmentally conscious designs. One way in which it does so is by encouraging participants to confront the challenge of reimagining and repurposing existing spaces—a task often more difficult than creating an entirely new space. IE University saw the need for a program tailored to the needs of design professionals who wish to advance their career without sacrificing it, thus offering a special opportunity of simultaneously working and studying.
Anyone wishing to sign up for the Diploma in Strategic Interior Design through FRAME Magazine and IE School of Architecture and Design Talent Partnership, could receive up to 40% scholarship.

Elvira Muñoz, the diploma’s director, highlighted the program’s focus on preparing its students to design for uncertainty, and to create spaces that are adaptable, versatile and resiliently able to meet users’ ever-changing needs. Also present at the event was Rapha Gielgan of Vitra, who identified this ‘future literacy’ as an essential skill that prepares the graduates to thrive in the modern world. Moreover, Robert Thiemann of FRAME Magazine invited the students to create places of purpose with meaningful experiences.

Melanie Chismechian of Savills and alumni of the Master in Strategic Interior Design emphasized the need for our spaces to mirror the shifting modern world – from retail and the workspace to hospitality and learning environments. According to her, design is not a one-size-fits-all solution but rather something that requires a holistic and broad perspective. The event’s other speakers echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of looking at each project from a multidimensional point of view, along with focusing on long-term sustainability.
