IDF awards 2013

the india design forum (IDF) in collaboration with designboom celebrates india’s vibrantly dynamic creative scene and identifies the best in various design disciplines. the IDF awards program seeks to increase national awareness of design by educating the public and honoring excellence, innovation, and lasting achievement. this award will also give opportunities to be featured by newspapers, online publications and design print magazines from all over the world. for this first edition in 2013 designs produced within the last 5 years (2008 – 2012) are eligible for application. participation is open to applicants from india, mainly indian companies and design professionals, but also indian citizens living abroad. in the concept section participation is open to indian students and design-enthusiasts. free registration required.                      

— 01 – jury the jury is currently under construction.

— 02 – design criteria projects produced between 2008 – 2012 are eligible. the jury will award designs and concepts which are innovative in terms of their formal and social aspects. the product / work should fulfill requirements of usability, safety, and maintenance. ecological aspects are more and more challenging the market: the submitted products / works are evaluated according to the highest international standards for the use of materials and manufacturing technology (incl. energy consumption) and if they are in an appropriate proportion to the product / work utility. other criteria can be : is the product / work durable (for a long life-span) ? good design concepts envision new products and services that fit new demands and potential requirements.

it is now important for manufacturers to set themselves apart from competitors by proving exceptional design quality and designers are also benefiting from the award as they are using the achievement to present themselves to their clients. the award provides effective communication to the management of the company / studio and especially on the value of innovation and design research.

— 03 – registration deadline registration and submission deadline is january 30th, 2013. the jury process will take place in february 2013.

— 04 – registration for registration, please fill in the form. teams and companies register with one name only. – when submitting works you can add all team member’s names.

— 05 – submit your entry / entries

if you are entering more than one work, please submit each work separatelyyou will be requested to supply:

1. how many image files for upload? up to six images can be uploaded (either single or composition images) image size should be: 818 pixels wide please upload the following file formats only: – .gif,  or .jpeg, – (72 dpi) max 200 kb each file, – RGB color mode.video files: you are allowed to add 2 video (you will be request to embed the code of your video)

the entry submitted is a low-res version of your original work. these original high-resolution image(s) will be requested only if your work is shortlisted..

2. explanation please provide a brief description of your design. jury decisions will be based on the core design criteria. you should consider a broad spectrum of issues that demonstrate and showcase the ways in which design can make a positive impact. (english text only)

3. you will be requested to accept the competition guidelines competition guidelines: projects participating to the competition, must be original works. projects must be free from copyrights and any kind of obligation. the design shall not in any way infringe any third party’s right, including but not limited to copyright, logos, trademark, trade names, or other proprietary rights of publicity or privacy. only entries with a declaration of authorship are accepted ! (when submitting your design you will be asked to tick a box of declaration)

please note registrations are now open, but product / work submissions will open only on october 30th, 2012.

— 06 – deadline for submission of entries works can be submitted through january 31st, 2013.

— 07 – announcement of the results results will be announced in march 2013. the jury’s selection is final and is not debatable.

— 08 – intellectual property rights any moral and paternity right regarding the project (including images) sent in for submission is the designer’s property. however, by participating in the competition, the entrants authorize to provide designboom and IDF with the right to publish and exhibit all the designs (including project data submitted) – waiving compensation – at exhibitions and events and/or to use them in any publications communications or promotions that designboom and IDF may deem suitable and/or necessary. designers will be fully credited when their work is used. in case designboom and IDF want to bring major changes to the submitted artwork for publication, designboom and IDF will contact the designer and inform him/her about the use to obtain the designer’s consent.
