swedish/german design studio hopf, nordin present two lighting designs at berlin design selection during milan design week 2015. the ‘stick light’ is an updated kerosene lamp for the 21st century. after removing all redundant and no longer needed details–like kerosene–three core elements remained. the design is composed of a crystal-clear cylindrical ‘wick’ for light distribution. a square ‘reservoir’ contains the objects electronics, and a tactile ‘thimble’ switches the light on and off and dims brightness.

the ‘flute light’, is influenced by wooden organs’ flue pipes. instead of sound, light is bounced around the artifacts interior, emerging glare-free from the front opening. ‘flute’ is made from two parts; of which can be combined in a large array of material and colors options. both designs will be on exhibit from april 14th to 19th, 2015 at berlin design selection
