honda covers everything in gold to celebrate 50th anniversary

honda celebrates 50 years in the australian market with a one-off collection of some its iconic performance products, resplendent in striking gold bodywork. featured in the fleet of shining machinery is honda’s NSX hybrid supercar and the civic type R hatchback.

honda australia partnered with melbourne-based specialists vinyl wraps and graphics to conceptualise and produce the striking gold bodywork on each of the products. a gold chrome film was laminated with a clear satin film to help disperse reflections, resulting in a unique and refined finish that changes tone under the light.

the one-0ff range of gold models also features the australia-assembled HRU19 buffalo premium lawnmower, the EU22i leisure generator, and the CRF50F kids dirt bike. the gold makeovers mark half a century since the company was established locally on february 4, 1969.

‘we thought about how we could celebrate our birthday and our unique diversity in a bold and fun way,’ said hiroyuki shimizu, managing director and CEO of honda australia, in a statement. ‘I mean, who has ever seen a golden mower or generator before?’

each vinyl wrapped machine is not for sale and just one-of-one. according to a press release the celebratory golden collection of products will be used throughout the year to inspire, thank and connect with customers in australia.
