german company henkel focuses on producing industrial adhesive technologies as well as a broad range of consumer and craftsmen adhesives. the packaging for these systems offers more than just protection during transport, facilitating their use and drawing attention to the product.

the company is currently hosting the henkel packaging design contest which asks participants to develop innovative ideas and designs for the packaging of henkel consumer adhesive products. the contest addresses packaging designers, design amateurs and students, along with users of henkel consumer adhesives from across the globe who are interested in sharing and discussing new packaging ideas and solutions.

the contest runs from until march 18th, 2011 with a jury meeting that will occur in april of 2011. the winners will be announced in may 2011. the best design will be rewarded with prize money of 3, 000 euros. the second and third will be rewarded 1, 500 and 500 euros respectively.

henkel packaging experts will be present on the contest platform for the duration of the competition. they will interact and generate discussion with the participants, allowing an interactive exchange of ideas and expertise.

designs will be evaluated by the community as well as the jury based on the following criteria: 1. sustainability: material, transport, storage, recycle / reuse 2. innovation: technical solution 3. convenience: health & safety, easy to use, self explaining 4. performance: contribution to solution 5. aesthetic appeal: attractiveness (for purchase)

you can indicate your evaluation of an idea by assigning 1 to 5 stars to each of the design. the average rating is displayed within the idea pool. for selecting the winners of the contest, the jury will also look at your evaluations.
