studio nama and frill furniture present ‘intertwined’

Studio NAMA and frill furniture’s collaboration, INTERTWINED, explores the organic relationship between wood, textiles, and craft. Drawing inspiration from the Victorian Arts and Crafts movement, the series presents three functional objects: the biscotti daybed, the donut bench, and the teardrop shelf. With solid maple bases handcrafted to highlight the bold natural texture of wood, and upholstery textiles influenced by the ever-changing seasons, INTERTWINED showcases the design duo’s commitment to creating enduring pieces. The made to order products are developed deliberately and in small batches in slow manufacturing processes, transcending instant culture and industrial manufacturing to serve their owners for generations.

exploring the organic relationship between wood and textiles

Tel Aviv-based furniture designer Gila Babich of frill furniture, and textile designer Naama Ben Moshe of Studio NAMA’s collaboration premiered at the Fresh Paint art and design fair earlier this month. Through INTERTWINED, the duo seeks to establish a connection between the objects and individuals who choose to incorporate them into their living spaces. The furniture objects are composed of solid maple bases, handcrafted by Babich as well as upholstery textiles from Ben Moshe’s new collection, which draws inspiration from the four seasons.

INTERTWINED was inspired by the core principles of the Arts and Crafts movement, which recognizing the decline in the quality of mass-produced home furnishings, sought to re-establish the connection between designer and manufacturing processes, promoting honest production, simple design, craftsmanship, and the use of quality materials. Studio NAMA and frill furniture embody these ideals, exploring their shared appreciation for light and playful design, organic forms, and natural materials.
